Following the successful Career Café event, we hosted an engaging follow-up session titled “Career पे चर्चा” at Yuvalay, Vadodara. The session provided a platform for participants to delve deeper into their career queries and gain valuable insights. The event saw the participation of selected 20 individuals, ranging from 10th graders to working professionals.

- Adjusting to a New Place:
One of the initial questions focused on avoiding mistakes when moving to a new location. Participants were encouraged to observe local habits, embrace cultural differences, and maintain an open mind to new experiences. The importance of focusing on what can be controlled and avoiding the temptation to miss home comforts was emphasized.
- Navigating Hostel Life:
The discussion touched on the dynamics of hostel living, emphasizing the importance of balancing goals and studies with fun. The 80/20 rule was highlighted, suggesting that it’s natural to get along with 80% of the people while not clicking with the remaining 20%. The idea was to enjoy the journey with those around you without trying to change anyone.
- Balancing College Life and Personal Development:
Effective time management and understanding one’s schedule were key topics. Participants were recommended to engage in activities they enjoy alongside those important for their growth. Striking a balance between passion and responsibility was stressed to prevent burnout.
- Prioritizing Activities:
The session explored the method of elimination to help participants identify their priorities. They were encouraged to focus on short-term goals, such as the next five years, and to re-evaluate their choices periodically.
- The Role of Relationships in Career Development:
Relationships play a significant role in shaping your career journey. We discussed the importance of knowing when to invest in a relationship and when to take a step back, as both decisions can greatly impact your professional path. Aligning personal and professional goals is essential, and sometimes, letting go is the best choice for both personal happiness and career growth. - Timing of Pursuing a Master’s Degree:
The discussion concluded with advice on the timing of further education. It was suggested that gaining 1-3 years of work experience after a bachelor’s degree is beneficial. This experience helps in understanding course content and its practical application, which is often preferred by top universities.
